Out of Sight

Oil Slick Disappears in Gulf

I wrote about this previously, but now that the media have picked up the "mystery" I'll rehash what this is. On ABC radio tonight I heard during their news report a sound bite from an LSU professor who told them what wonderful news it is that the oil has disappeared, because obviously Mother Nature was taking care of us by having natural microbes break down the oil. No, moron, that's not why the oil is not able to be found, it is on account of the 40+ million gallons of Corexit 9500.

Corexit is made from oil, it has an affinity for oil, it attaches chemically to oil, making it heavier than water and allows it to sink instead of float. The term "dispersant" is misleading for what BP's chemical actually does. A more proper name would perhaps be a "density augmenting" substance. Corexit does not break up oil or make it magically vanish into thin air, it sinks the oil where the media and Gulf Coast residents can no longer see it, but it is still there. All that oil is still there, as is the methane, as are the toxic substances coming out of BP's petroleum deposit, as are the poisons being offgassed by their Corexit.

The media, ahead of the November elections, have been instructed to tell everyone that the crisis is over and that the oil is gone, that Soetoro and his crack administration have cleaned up the problem, now vote Democrat! Things couldn't be farther from the truth. Just another chicane, one more lie on top of all the rest.
