Long Island Town Using Google Earth to Ferret Out Illegal Pools
Google Earth is an amazing tool. Unfortunately it is an amazing danger to our privacy, we, the little people. Not of course to Google's executives, who have blocked their own homes from appearing in Google Earth and Google Maps' Street View... I had no idea that some communities require permits to own backyard pools, but evidently you must pay tribute to your local government if you live on Long Island and would like to build one. So the officials are using Google to spy on residents and issuing fines to those citizens who have not paid their pool tax. Never assume that anything you do or say is not being monitored, folks. We are living in the Panopticon.
